TEACHING READING

1. Reading Reflex written by Carmen and Geoffrey McGuinness- This book has concepts for teaching reading that are ahead if their time. It takes the whole child into consideration and has proven to be extremely effective. It is intended for children who are older than 4 and is only $13. Although this book is straightforward and to the point, making it a little dry, I highly recommend it. Just be sure to be creative with lesson plans to keep your child's interest.

2. Jolly Phonics written by Sue Lloyd - This is an entire program for kids who are just learning how to read. It is fun, engaging and successful, but expensive! Young beginning readers really enjoy it.
