ABOUT UPGRADE READING

Upgrade Reading is a reading program designed especially for kids. We take the whole child into consideration, so the information they receive is logical, relevant and consistent. The questions, "What is that?" and "Why is it that way?" are never taken away. Children learn through the avenues that make sense to them; so learning how to read becomes a successful and enjoyable event.
At Upgrade Reading we teach using a method written by Read America called Phono-Graphix® and The Linda Mood-Bell program, Seeing Stars. Both of these methods are based on extensive clinical experience with children and twenty years of rigorous scientific research. They have proven to be extremely successful in helping all students, regardless of "reading disabilities" learn how to read.

ABOUT JESSICA JACOBSON

Jessica Jacobson has been teaching reading to kids for over six years. She is a credentialed elementary and middle school teacher with special coursework in literacy. In addition, Jessica is a certified reading therapist who has studied some of the most researched and scientifically valid reading approaches including Phono-Graphix® and the Linda Mood-Bell programs. Most of all, Jessica approaches teaching with a joy, commitment and sense of humor that kids love!

ABOUT CHRISTINE KEAGY

Christine has been teaching reading for four years. She is a credentialed elementary, middle school and high school English teacher, who has pursued specialized coursework in literacy and continues to study educational therapy at Berkeley. Additionally, she is trained in all of Lindamood-Bell's programs and Making Math Real. Christine completed her Master's Degree in Education at Northwestern University, where she studied how to help kids who struggle with math. Christine loves teaching reading and finding ways to make it easy for every child.

ABOUT JENNIFER LOEWEN

Jennifer Loewen has been a teacher at Upgrade Reading for 2 years. As a credentialed elementary school teacher who has studied specialized reading techniques, Jennifer has a unique ability to not only educate children but reach their heart as well. She has her BA from Vanderbilt University in child development, M.A. from Stanford University in Social SciencesÊand Education, 2 years working for a company called Genesis as an Educational Consultant / Director of Research developing educational materials and 6 years of teaching experience. Jennifer is a gifted, caring teacherÊwho knows how to reach out to students for optimal learning.ÊShe continues to further herÊeducationÊthrough training and research.ÊJennifer's teaching skils come from a passionÊfor kids andÊsheÊis always willing to go that extra mile.
